The 2017 – 2018 Facts and Figures publication is now available

Updated information includes a comparison of the per hectare returns for horticulture, forestry, dairy and sheep and beef farming. This information is based on export returns.
Though this information does not indicate return on investment, adjustment for the greater domestic market for forest products and the different classes of land used for the different sectors, the data does provide a strong indication that forestry is more than a competitive land use against the marginal farm hill country livestock industry.
It is planned that the 2018 – 2019 edition of Facts and Figures will be printed soon after the next edition of the National Exotic Forest Description is available from MPI in March/April.
