A Fond Farewell and Warm Welcome at FGR

Forest Growers Research says a fond farewell at the end of June to Brian Richardson, the Precision Silviculture Partnership Programme Leader who has managed the programme since its inception in early 2022. FGR would like to take the opportunity to give their appreciation appreciation for Brian’s leadership and hard work to initiate and drive development of multiple projects in the programme and we wish him well for his future endeavours.

After over 40 years working in forestry science and research, managing numerous large projects, Brian has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Precision Silviculture programme achieving great results and new opportunities across the forest growing value chain.   Brian is leaving FGR to go into “semi-retirement” and to pursue some of his other passions including rock climbing, mountaineering in the Himalayas and to continue his volunteer role for the Kaharoa Kokako Trust.

FGR also gives a warm welcome to Claire Stewart and are excited to announce her as the new Precision Silviculture Programme Manager.   Claire joins FGR on June 12th from Scion where she held a Portfolio Leader position with a focus on digitisation, automation and data in forestry and wood processing. In this role she has been closely associated with the PSP programme and led the Nursery Workstream project.

Claire brings significant expertise in technology, innovation, marketing, business strategy consulting and management. Over the course of her 18-year career, she has worked with a diverse range of public and private sector organisations across Australasia and the UK and has focused on driving innovation through the adoption of new technology.

Claire is excited about this new role and the opportunity to work in true partnership with the forestry industry, collaborating to co-design the most effective pathways to drive new innovation. Claire’s knowledge and passion in digitisation and automation will undoubtedly contribute to the future success of the Precision Silviculture Programme and make her an integral member of the FGR team.
